The ATX form factor provides ample utility, allowing you to equip your build with an array of gaming-level components. The AMD B550 chipset and AM4 CPU socket provide compatibility with the latest Ryzen brand processors. Install up to a total of 128GB of dual-channel DDR4 memory with speeds up to 4866 MHz to experience quick multitasking and smooth system performance. Configure storage with six SATA III ports and two M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD interfaces for faster application loading speeds. Further expand the capabilities of the MAG B550 with one PCIe 4.0/3.0 x16 and one PCIe 3.0 x16 slot for graphics cards, while two PCIe 3.0 x1 slots allow the installation of game capture, audio, and wireless networking cards.
You can utilize up to six USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A and Type-C ports for resource-demanding devices such as external storage or microphones. Another six USB 2.0 Type-A ports are available for low-resource devices such as keyboards and mice. An RJ45 2.5 gigabit Ethernet port provides speedy wired networking capabilities for a low-latency online experience. This motherboard is compatible with Windows 10 (64-bit) operating system.

A Keep Out Zone ensures case standoffs don’t interact with electrical components while installing, keeping your motherboard safe from accidental short circuits. An enlarged PCIe clip helps eject graphics cards without damaging any components. An EZ Debug LED system indicates the sources of possible problems, notifying you if any errors exist within the CPU, DRAM, VGA, or Boot system. You can even switch this function off if you wish with the flick of an on-board switch. A BIOS flashback button allows you to quickly go back to a prior BIOS version, allowing you to continue gaming within moments.
Performance and Protection
MSI designed the MAG B550 with a mindfulness, starting with a six layer, 2oz thickened copper printed circuit board which increases conductivity and improves heat dissipation. ESD protection provides additional grounding layers around the mounting holes, preventing potential static discharge from damaging the motherboard. Additionally, the PCIe slot features steel-armor covering, preventing the weight of heavy graphics cards from affecting the motherboard by heavily reinforcing soldered connections.
Performance Boosting Technology
Lightning Gen 4 works with the two M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD slots to provide you with enhanced data transfer speeds up to 64 Gb/s, increasing loading times and general operating system performance. Audio Boost, isolated audio signal technology, and de-pop protection provide studio-grade sound for immersive gaming experiences. Game Boost is a quick one-second enhancement that lets you enable overclocking with just the press of a button. HDMI and DisplayPort outputs allow up to 4K resolution depending on the CPU installed.
Thermal Solutions
MSI provides multiple thermal solutions to keep your motherboard and components cool as you game. Pump fan support allows you to attach various water cooling systems while also reducing radiator noise. Extended heatsinks and cooler pads provide better heat transference through the board, reducing temperature throughout the system. The M.2 Shield Frozr is a specialized heatsink designed for M.2 PCIe NVMe solid-state drives, preventing damage caused by overheating.
MSI Dragon Center
Adjust operation parameters and monitor performance with the MSI Dragon Center software. This program allows you to fine-tune various aspects of your build, streamlining fan control and making custom changes simple and easy. With the LAN Manager, you can prioritize your games over other applications, adjust bandwidth properties, and run multiple tests to ensure optimized gaming performance. Dragon Center also uses MSI’s Mystic Lighting technology, enabling you to change lighting settings for compatible RGB-enabled components such as fans and peripherals like mice and keyboards.
